PSY-375 Lab One
This lab consisted of various tests that tested my reaction time and ability to detect patterns. Essentially my processing speed was being evaluated. This provided insight into my processing limitations. No matter how hard I tried, the physical mechanics of processing can only process at a certain speed and no amount of willpower can increase it. This lab applies to self-care and encourages me to be mindful of my limitations.

PSY-375 Lab Two
This lab measured response and reaction time regarding patterns and differences. The various tests recorded my ability to notice differences with or without a delay by way of a "flicker" screen. The change blindness that occurs can apply directly to situations involving an eyewitness to a crime. Knowing that change can seem easy to recognize, this test indicates how much harder it really is. Social justice is certainly affected by the ignorance of everyone's change blindness and how unreliable our memory is.

PSY-375 Lab Three
The results from this lab caused me to seriously question my ability to pay attention which immediately caused me to relate it to how much it affects my work. The connection to my career and my limitations of being able to remember or discern information in the midst of distraction opened my eyes to how I need to put forth more effort to limit my distractions and paying better attention.

PSY-375 Lab Four
The tests in this lab centered around memory and how it affects processing. Certain things are more easily recalled based on the emotional connection we may have with them. I was reminded at how much I learn visually and while I may not always recall something unprompted, I typically am able to determine it was something I had seen or experienced before. These labs are related to emotional intelligence because of our awareness of someone's emotions or our own stems from being able to make and recognize connections. Understanding cognition regarding false memories is being aware that people may adamantly believe they remember something when in fact it is likely due to some other connection they made.

PSY-375 Lab Five
This lab involved testing patterns and processing. The results of these tests indicated my ability to detect patterns in order to determine differences between words and nonwords when presented. When asked about Artificial Intelligence regarding language, I am reminded of why I turned to study psychology. My current career path involves automation and I know it's a matter of time before AI will be able to perform my position much more efficiently. Knowing my limitations in recognizing patterns compared to AI caused me to want to switch careers to something that is more personal and not as easily automated.

PSY-375 Lab Six
This lab consisted of tests that resembled a game show. Since one was directly related to the Monty Hall problem regarding picking a door or switching doors in order to win the prize. Because I followed the plan of always switching, I won 73% of the time. I found this game to relate to ethics. The game show host was instructed to always pick a non-prize door but likely pressured the contestants to often stick with their initial choice in order to avoid giving out the prize. Had all contestants known this was the strategy and were encouraged to always switch, their odds would go up, but it would be more ethical to give them a fairer scenario.
