emotional intelligence

Emotional Intelligence has been where I have experienced the most growth in my learning experiences. While many of the resources I've encountered can in some way relate back to emotional intelligence, I feel these have the most significance to this theme. My exposure to many different types of scenarios in my Abnormal Psychology course has challenged me to recognize most behaviors can be explained in some way. My awareness of the needs of others as well as my own has improved my interactions with my work colleagues and allowed me to help them with their interactions as well. Since my team works with colleagues in our offices in India, I have been able to help others recognize their cultural differences in order to better understand their mannerisms to promote better working relationships.

Transformation

Having had the opportunity earlier this year to watch a TED Talk that SNHU hosted, I was moved by this video. Rick relates his personal journey of bias while trying to attend college to how we should all treat each other. The positive benefits we are awarded by connecting with people dismantle social injustices. I felt a connection to his story and believe that embracing our differences has made an impact on my social awareness mindset.
